the Water Park nominated for 2009 European Union Contemporary Architecture Mies van der Rohe Award

Today, the European Commission and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe make public the list of 340 projects competing for the Prize for Contemporary Architecture European Union - Mies van der Rohe Award 2009.


It began in 1987, the 60,000 € prize is the most important award in the European architecture and is given every two years recent projects. Its aim is to show the current creativity and awareness of how modern architecture is socially and culturally rooted in European cities.


Besides the prize, is awarded an Emerging Architect Special Mention consisting of 20,000 €, which recognizes young professionals starting their careers.

Among the winners of previous editions are: Mansilla Tuñón, OMA Rem Kohler, Ellen van Loon), Zaha Hadid, Dominique Perrault and Norman Foster.
