The Kelani River Park integrates flood protection infrastructure with parks and public spaces along 36 km from Hanwella to Colombo, across three scales: metropolitan, regional, and local. It enhances connectivity, sustainable mobility, and access to recreational areas; creates socio-ecological zones protecting communities and biodiversity; and implements multifunctional pilot projects. This hybrid approach promotes resilience, social cohesion, and quality of life.
